Why use BuyerZone?
Security surveillance systems today are much more
sophisticated and complex than ever. By answering some
routine facility-related queries to a multiple choice
questionnaire, you can be provided with one -- or more --
video surveillance system price quotes from only the
providers qualified to meet or exceed your specific
requirements.
If you are a homeowner with a family, video surveillance
with remote internet access can give you peace of mind.
Imagine being able to see your toddler and their
babysitter's activities. Or if you have teens, you can
monitor their behavior. As a small business owner, you can
keep your eye on the company's assets, whether they are
goods or services. Observe your employees and get a handle
on productivity bottlenecks. For a larger business with high
traffic areas, products can be tracked and inefficient
operations identified. These are just samples of where a
video security system can save you energy, time and
manpower.

Detailed guidelines for filling out the form
- Residential or Commercial? This first
question relates to city zoning as well as specific
equipment and installation options. In the case of a
Small Office Home Office (SOHO) commercial business, the
answer to this question is most likely “Residential”. A
conventional home and a home-based business use many of
the same components. Of particular note: Residential
installation in rental property is not currently an
available option.
- Is this a New, Expanding, or Replacement System?
New systems are generally easier to select, as they will
include all of the supporting hardware and software
necessary to implement a turn-key operation. The best
value for your surveillance dollar is a new system, as
system packages usually have discounts significantly
less expensive than the sum of the individual
components.
An expanding system can also be used to indicate a
partial upgrade. For example, if you have a CCTV system
currently installed, you may want to consider
analog-to-digital conversion and connection to a DVR as
opposed to continued use of conventional VCRs. This
option would leave your significant investment in
cameras and cabling intact, yet it would give you the
power of software-based analytics of a modern system.
A replacement system is similar to a new installation,
however, the old equipment would need to be removed and
replaced. Further, this would be an ideal time to review
camera zone surveillance coverage provided by a more
modern system.
- Time frame. This is for scheduling and
planning purposes. It means when do you expect to buy
the equipment and services to satisfy the project.
- What type of surveillance? No preference -
please advise, digital, analog, or other (please
specify). It is fine not to be certain. The technology
changes so fast, it's natural to be unsure of your
future requirements. If you have a currently installed
analog CCTV system and are considering a digital
solution, use the “No preference” option.
- How many cameras? Unless you have used modern
mapping and zoning software and have a concrete idea of
the approximate number of cameras, enter “not sure”. You
will be given options to either use mapping software or
directed to a security consultant.
- Indoor, outdoor installation or both? This is
self-explanatory, but impacts the types of packaged
solutions or special equipment needed to complete your
project.
- Amount of coverage. This is the total area
anticipated for surveillance. If outdoors, include the
size of the surrounding area. This dictates the type and
number of cameras needed for coverage.
- Do you want professional installation? Video
surveillance is not generally a Do It Yourself project. A
professional installation may also carry certain guarantees
and warranties not covered by a DIY installation.
- Type of commercial business. This is
important because there are regulations and
certifications needed for certain types of business. For
example, a government installation may need Mil-Spec
components and require bonded or Defense Industrial
Security Clearance Office approved installers. Medical
facilities can also be problematic and may need Hospital
Grade components.
- Estimated budget. This is the amount you – or your CFO
– deems adequate to implement the system. If you are near a
seam, e.g., $4999 and $5000, always choose the larger
number. There may be options at the upper end that are more
cost-effective than at the lower end. For example, lower
insurance premiums may actually drive the cost below the
threshold.
The rest of the form is contact information and other
