Homeowners and small businesses now have access to
solar-powered wireless security cameras. You may be
wondering if this technology is even reliable or appropriate
for your relatively small-scale surveillance needs. Let us
take a closer look at this technology to get a better
understanding of the pros and cons of using solar powered
cameras for your home surveillance needs.
A company called
Everspring has designed and manufactured some unique
wireless solar cameras that are inexpensive and ideal for
small-scale surveillance applications. These relatively
small units are powered completely by solar energy and are
ideal for installing in areas where there is no electrical
power source available.
All of Everspring's solar models also come with a PIR
motion detector. PIR stands for passive infrared, which
refers to the ability to sense the infrared energy that is
emanated from all living things. This technology enables the
camera to sense and automatically follow the heat source.
The camera remains in a standby mode until infrared heat is
detected, automatically triggering the image and voice
transmission to your receiver or recorder.
The real advantage for having a wireless solar camera is
that it is a truly wireless camera. Most wireless versions
that are on the market may not require wires to network to
your computer, but they still need to be plugged into some
type of electrical power source. When you are mounting
cameras outside this can be especially difficult. Having a
solar powered model can really expand your surveillance
options. Areas such as parking lots, back yards, or boat
docks are difficult to monitor with traditional cameras.
Solar versions make monitoring these difficult areas
possible.
You may be hesitant to consider a solar camera because
you may assume the price to prohibitive. Surprisingly these
solar models are very inexpensive. Everspring's models sell
for around $150.00. They all come with a solar camera unit,
AC adapter, receiver, and a rechargeable camera battery.
Some of the other features that come standard on all of
Everspring's wireless solar cameras include: automatic
recording based on motion triggers, 2.4 GHz frequency range,
viewing range up to 100M, audio recording and transmission,
and durable outdoor camera housings.
You might also be wondering what happens after dark? Is
the camera still able to work? The solar panel powers the
camera during the day and recharges the battery. The
rechargeable battery in turn helps power the camera at night
when there is no direct sunlight.
If you have a need to monitor some difficult to reach
locations outside your home or office, you should really
consider a solar model. The flexibility of installation that
these solar powered models allow can make your job a whole
lot easier. Two retail versions of Everspring's
solar-powered wireless surveillance cameras can be purchased
