Childcare is an integral part of today's busy culture. For many working parents, daycare centers are a popular choice. Another popular alternative for parents is to have their children cared for within their own home by way of a nanny. This later method of childcare is often a good alternative for both parent and child, but it can bring with it its own potential hazards.

Worried parents often feel helpless and at the mercy of their child's caregiver. They are afraid they never really know what goes on within their home throughout the day while they are absent. Many parents are trying to regain some control by installing nanny camera systems within their home to keep a watchful eye over their children. This article provides the top five motivating factors behind why parents choose to implement these hidden surveillance systems.

  1. Fear of potential for child abuse -- This is probably the biggest driving factor of why many parents turn to the use of hidden camera devices to keep watch over their children and caregivers. There are numerous documented stories of children being abused by their nannies. While the majority of nannies likely are not abusive people, parents harbor a great deal of fear. This fear is often exasperated by the fact that many parents have to select a caregiver that is a complete stranger to them. There are things a parent can do to lesson the risk of selecting a person prone to abusive actions, but no method is foolproof. For this reason, many parents feel implementing a nanny camera system is really the only way they can know for sure that their child is not being harmed.

  2. Feeling of a lack of knowledge and control -- Anytime you turn the care of your child over to another person, you relinquish your control and protection over them and turn it over to another individual. This is a very real challenge for many parents. Having to put complete trust and faith in a total stranger is a very difficult thing for many parents to overcome. It may get easier with time, but for some there is always that nagging fear that they really do not know the person they are entrusting with their child. Many parents report that after installing a nanny camera system they were finally able to relax. Logging in periodically throughout the day to catch a glimpse of their child provided them with much needed assurance.

  3. Need to know their child is happy and content -- For many parents with children, holding a full time job is a necessity. Working full time leaves many parents with a sense of guilt that they are missing a large part of their child's growth and development. Having the ability to monitor their children's mood and activities at any given moment throughout the day, gives many parents a sense of connection that would otherwise be missing.

  4. Want to ensure their child is receiving the best possible care -- Many parents see nanny camera systems as a tool that helps them measure the quality of care their children are receiving. At any given time throughout the day, they can check in on their children to make sure they are happy and interacting well with their caregiver. Seeing first hand that they child is happy and well cared for provides much needed feedback to concerned parents.

  5. Adds a greater level of security to their home -- Many extra security benefits come as a direct result of having a hidden camera system in your home. A well installed nanny camera system can be used to monitor your home whenever you grant someone access, whether it be a cleaning crew, pet sitter, or repair technician. In addition, since many nanny camera systems are designed with remote access capabilities, they can be used any time you are traveling away from home for an extended period. Many families find the added protection contributes a great deal to their overall sense of security.

As you can see, there are several reasons why parents decide to incorporate nanny camera systems into their home. You may find one of the reasons motivating enough, or you may be convinced of the benefits of all of them. As a parent, any one of these could be a valid reason to consider utilizing this technology within your home.
