If you are looking to implement a comprehensive home
safety and security plan, you should consider incorporating
two main components. These include an alarm system, and a
surveillance system. These two components together provide a
much higher degree of protection than just a single
component would.
The product line we will be reviewing is designed for the
do-it-yourselfer with this complete security protection in
mind. The two products are the
GE SmartHome wireless home security system and the
GE SmartHome wireless camera system with monitor.
SmartHome wireless home monitoring system
GE has developed a line of products called
SmartSecurity
that is a part of their SmartHome product line. The
SmartSecurity product line consists of a complete
do-it-yourself alarm and monitoring system and various add
on components that you can use for system expansion. The
system is wireless, which guarantees easy installation. The
system can also be configured to contact specific phone
numbers in the event an alarm is triggered. The
SmartSecurity system provides all the same features as other
more expensive alarm services without a monthly service fee.
- Basic kit -- The basic package consists of a
control panel, two door/window motion sensors, and a
24-hour battery backup. The SmartSecurity base kit is
designed to be expandable up to 24 sensors.
- Add on sensors -- Additional sensors you can
purchase include; motion sensors, door/window contact
sensors, water/flood sensors, smoke sensors, and freeze
sensors. The easy add on accessories make it simple for
you to customize a system to meet the exact security needs
of your home.
- Remote control options -- There are two remote
control options to choose from that easily integrate with
your SmartSecurity system. Both contain an active panic
alarm and give you the ability to control all aspects of
the SmartSecurity system from any room in your house. In
addition, these remotes can be incorporated with other
Smart Remote Plus receivers to control lighting and
appliances if you have other GE products. The remote key
chain gives you the added convenience of being able to
easily arm or disarm your system while entering or exiting
your house.
Wireless surveillance camera system with monitor
The SmartHome product line also consists of a complete
wireless camera system, which is designed to incorporate up
to three surveillance cameras. The package can be purchased
with or without a monitor. Add-on cameras can be purchased
that automatically adjust to work in low lighting conditions
and can be installed indoors or outdoors. You can also
purchase a wireless transmitter for the system, which allows
you to easily view the captured video from any existing
television in your home. Because the SmartHome system
utilizes wireless technology, this allows for an easy
installation experience.
If you are interested in installing a security system but
are concerned about a complicated installation or costly
monthly service charge, you should really consider the GE
SmartHome product line. It may be exactly what you have been
looking for.
