Astak
is a leading supplier of computer and memory components in
the United States. Aside from memory modules and flash cards
they also manufacturer a unique selection of wireless
security cameras. While the
Astak wireless security camera line is not very
extensive, they offer some camera products with unique
options.
The Astak security camera line consists of cameras that
fall into two basic categories: night vision and pinhole
models. Let us look a little closer at the two basic
technologies Astak offers and learn a little more about the
specific cameras they sell.
Night vision cameras
Astak offers two styles of night vision cameras, a
weatherproof model, and a waterproof model. Both have
superior night vision capabilities that enable the cameras
to detect anyone or anything that moves in complete
darkness. Both camera styles also can transmit images from
about 100 to 150 meters away.
The weatherproof model comes with a very durable alloy
shell, which allows for full time outdoor usage. The
weatherproof night vision camera also comes with a 2.4 GHz
transmitter and receiver, and retails for $150.00. The
waterproof model produces color images during the daytime,
and automatically switches to night-vision mode when it gets
dark. This particular camera has built in infrared LED
lights that allow the camera to detect objects when there is
little or no light, and sells for about $99.00.
Pinhole Cameras
Astak has four styles of wireless pinhole cameras in
their product line. Astak claims they are the world's
smallest wireless pinhole cameras available. They all can
monitor up to a distance of 300 feet away. They also produce
full motion real time color video images without any delay.
Astak's wireless pinhole cameras use 9-volt batteries or can
utilize an AC adaptor. All pinhole models also come with a
built-in sensitive microphone and all run about $89.00 in
price. The pinhole models are especially useful because they
are so easy to install, and small in size that they can be
mounted virtually anywhere.
While the wireless security cameras Astak offers have
gotten some mixed reviews, they are generally a good buy for
the features they offer. The cameras are inexpensive and
offer a good starting point to those interested in
implementing their own video surveillance system at home.
The ease of installation and uniqueness of their night
vision technology as well as the small size of their pinhole
models make Astak's cameras hard to beat.
