Wireless technology is great! It gives you the ability to have great state of the art equipment without the hassle of wires. Now you can set up a more secure home surveillance system by installing a wireless video camera. Not only is a wireless video camera much easier to install that traditional hardwired models, it is also much less expensive since all the wiring is eliminated.

Maybe you would like to install a wireless video camera in your child’s nursery to monitor them while they sleep, or on your back porch to monitor the yard while they play. Or maybe you have good reason to mount a device on your car to protect against vandalism or theft. There are literally hundreds of possible uses all providing you with greater security and piece of mind.

With so many great models on the market, you can literally set up a wireless video camera for yourself for under a $100.00. X10 for example offers several models with great features like the XCam2 which delivers live color video directly to your TV, VCR or PC, with the ability to record only action footage via a motion-activated VCR recording kit.

If you are setting up a wireless surveillance system, you will need to make sure you have a wireless video transmitter as well. Most wireless video camera systems already come equipped with a wireless video transmitter, but they can be purchased separately if necessary. A wireless video transmitter allows you to transmit images directly from your wireless video camera to any television.

Another great piece of wireless technology that can further enhance your wireless video camera is a wireless video sender. It allows you to transmit the video signal from one television to another without the use of wires. This type of unit has great personal applications as well allowing you to view DVD or VCR movies on a separate television without additional wires.
