Motion sensors bring convenience to surveillance

When you set up your security system, motion sensors are an important component for you to consider. Instead of recording hours and hours of footage of an empty room, motion sensors trigger your recording device so that only actual movement is recorded.

When a security camera is installed, it is hooked up to a recording device, like a VCR. This is usually an easy and convenient process. The only drawback is how quickly these tapes will fill up if they are recording twenty-four hours a day. And if an event that warrants replay on the surveillance system occurs, it’s a fairly arduous task to sift through all the recordings. Recording over tapes reduces quality, as well.

With motion sensors, your recording device will only record when a movement triggers the device. That means you’ll get more days of recording per tape and it will be easier to find the activity you’re looking for when you look through the tapes.

Remote monitoring software packages also utilize motion sensors to bring the best possible security. Just set the camera to motion detection. Motion sensors can trigger recording whether a person is using a closed circuit television (CCTV) system or a remote monitoring system from a PC.

Some VCRs are even made with built in motion activation specifically for video surveillance. These unique motion-activated VCRs record in real time providing image quality that is far superior to choppy time-lapse recordings. The integrated motion sensor processor within the VCR allows it to analyze the video and record only when a movement occurs in the surveillance area. Best of all, these can be used with any wired or wireless video camera and there is no need for a separate motion sensing device.

Through using motion sensors, video surveillance becomes easier, better organized, and more efficient.
